Email Configuration Options

Kodaris supports two primary email sending options to ensure reliable delivery of customer communications such as order confirmations, notifications, and marketing emails. This guide will help you choose the best option for your business needs.

Email Sending Options

Option 1: SMTP (Your Email Server)

Description: Use your own email server (such as Microsoft 365, Gmail, or other SMTP providers) to send emails through Kodaris.

Advantages:

  • Full control over your email server
  • All emails sent through an email server you manage
  • Use your existing email infrastructure

Disadvantages:

  • Reliability: Office 365 and other SMTP providers can become unresponsive, slow, or have limits for email sending
  • Security complexity: Setup can be more difficult depending on how your email system is managed
  • Additional costs: May require user licenses (e.g., Microsoft 365 user license for email sending)
  • Limited scalability: Not ideal for high-volume email sending sometimes

Option 2: Kodaris Email powered by AWS SES

Description: Amazon Simple Email Service (SES) - the same email service that powers Amazon.com and sends billions of emails annually, fully managed by Kodaris.

Advantages:

  • High reliability: Enterprise-grade email delivery service
  • Fully managed: No security management needed by customer
  • Integrated security: Fully integrated within Kodaris platform
  • Multi-domain support: Can send from multiple email addresses or domains (useful for multi-site features)
  • Scalable: Handles high-volume email sending efficiently
  • Cost-effective: Competitive pricing structure

Disadvantages:

  • Less direct control over email infrastructure

Best for: Businesses of all sizes looking for reliable, scalable email delivery without the management overhead.

Implementation Process

  1. Gather your SMTP credentials:
    • SMTP Server (e.g., smtp.office365.com)
    • Port (typically 587 for Office 365)
    • Username
    • Password
  2. Configure in Kodaris:
    • Navigate to System > Settings
    • Search for "storeSMTP" settings
    • Update the SMTP server details
    • Set your "storeEmailAddress"
  3. Test the configuration by sending a test email from the Operations Portal

For Kodaris Email powered by AWS SES Configuration

What you need to provide:

  • Email domains you want to send emails from
  • Specific email addresses to be used for sending

Kodaris setup process:

  1. Domain verification: Kodaris creates the required DNS records for your domain(s)
  2. DNS configuration: You install the provided DNS records in your domain management system
  3. Completion: Kodaris completes the email setup process and conducts testing
  4. Go-live: Your email sending is activated and ready to use

Next Steps

  1. Evaluate your needs: Consider your email volume, technical resources, and reliability requirements
  2. Choose your option: Select either SMTP or AWS SES based on your evaluation
